Injuries due to falling can be a major problem when hiking, whether it be from slipping on an algae covered rock in a stream, stumbling on an obstacle in your path, or careening off a precipice. Falling has probably caused more injuries than rattlesnakes and scorpions. The chances of incurring an injury from a fall will increase as you get tired. Lack of attention and declining physical ability are sure signs of danger of an injury from a fall.
