This trail is so fast I'm almost not sure what to write about it. Mohave Trail (200) is a short 0.4 miles up and down a rocky ridge just south of Squaw Peak to a rounded summit with fantastic views of Phoenix and the nearby mountain areas. It's a guaranteed 60-minute-or-less trip that is sure to shut your friends up next time they say there's no time for a hike.
Start at the Mohave Ramada upper parking lot at a brown post next to Ramada 4. The trail climbs steeply and manages to intersect Trail #200a along the way. Avoid temptation and stick to 200 on the right. After 0.4 miles, you come out at the top of this 1,788 hill, with plenty of room to sit down and admire the views. If you happened to ride up on a horse, you'll see a conveniently located hitching post to your left. Once you're rested up, head down the same way you came up.
Getting There: From the Squaw Peak Parkway, take the Lincoln exit and head east to the signed entrance to Squaw Peak Mountain Preserve. Drive into the park to the Mohave Ramada on the right side of the road. Turn right and drive to the highest level and park.
